New review

Hey, I have a new review up, from Joyfully Reviewed. Some nice words and much appreciated.

Poison is a multifaceted Sci-Fi story. It’s very involving and one that I couldn’t put down until I completed it. …with an interesting romance of two men who need each other for survival…

Thank you, Ley!

Recent reads

Or, relatively recent reads. I haven’t been posting about books I’ve enjoyed for quite some time. But I’d like to get back to that. One of them was Claire Thompson’s Handyman. It came out in September and I read it a while after that.

I liked the premise, of a cynical younger man and an older, shyer, if not skittish man. I like when one guy has to be wooed. It’s a very sweet romance, lots of emotion, and I’m not the only one who liked it because I believe it got on the list of Samhain Reader’s Choice books. Claire Thompson has a m/m/m, Polar Reaction, coming out soon.

In November I also read the classic The Charioteer by Mary Renault. This was just a gorgeous book. There’s sadness and joy in it. Set during World War I, it’s hard to see these young men having been sent off to war and the aftermath of it. The slowly developing relationships are fantastically done, and I found it very moving. I consider The Charioteer a romance, but it is so much more. I need to read more of Mary Renault.

Marked in print!

Marked was released in print today! It is up at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Borders, and Booksamillion.

Even more exciting, it’s hit #6 on Amazon’s Gay Romance bestseller list. And, even, #76 in Gothic Romance. Yay!

Samhain blog

Over at the Samhain blog, I’ve written a post about the Druid Peak wolves of Yellowstone Park.

It’s about the social dynamics of one pack there.

Contract!

I’ve contracted a new book with Samhain. My lovely editor Sasha has bought Feral. It’s a m/m romance, natch. Also a cat shifter/werewolf romance. It should be released some time in 2009. So that’s my big September news.

I know I’ve been neglecting my blog here of late. But I’m chatty over at the blog of my alter ego, Jorrie Spencer.

Because it’s so pretty, I’m going to post the cover of my other cat shifter book. Puma will be released in October. Didn’t Anne Cain do an amazing job?

I Spy

I read a book! I feel like it’s been ages and it probably has been. I Spy Something Bloody by Josh Lanyon. I thoroughly enjoyed it, got hooked right in by the narrator’s voice. It’s first person.

The narrator is a spy or perhaps ex-spy, trying to reconcile with his ex after a disastrous job. Mark is in bad shape, emotionally and physically, and I really felt for him. I also appreciated the atmosphere of the story where you’re inside Mark’s head, can’t relax, can’t tell what exactly is going to happen, either with his job or, most importantly with his ex, with whom he badly wants to reconcile. Very tight writing, a gripping story. Recommended.

I gather some people couldn’t get past Mark’s character. Maybe I’ve watched too much MI-5, but I had no problem with it. (Not to say any reader is wrong, of course! And Book Utopia Mom gives great review.)

Also, there’s a fantastic dueling review here.

Poison review

Yes, I’ll post something else one of these days, if I ever read again. But a nice review of Poison at Romance Junkies!

…an intriguing mix of sci-fi, mystery and political thriller. The author has written a multi-layered story with many twists and turns that left me in constant suspense. I couldn’t wait to find out what happened next. Tobias and Arel are intelligent and resourceful I enjoyed following their adventures. I was reluctant to leave this world and I hope to visit it again someday.

Thank you, Christina!

Poison review

Fallen Angels Reviews gives Poison 5 angels!

Ms. Skye has created another delightful and spellbinding story about two star crossed lovers who have to overcome not only societal differences, but cultural differences from two worlds to hopefully find a love for all times… The twists and suspense in the story line held me spellbound as I watched the story unfold.

Thank you, Teresa!
